Amor Fati - a Latin phrase loosely translating to “love of fate” or “love of one’s fate”. It’s used to describe an attitude in which one sees everything that happens in one’s life, including suffering and loss, as good. Moreover, it’s characterized by an acceptance of the events or situations that occur in one’s life.
I got this tattoo during the month of my 20th birthday. It was at a shop named Inflicting Beauty, spur of the moment. I was first introduced to the Italian phrase through my favorite artist, Washed Out’s new album, Within and Without. After reading up on the phrase I decided I wanted a tattoo of it because of how it reflects my acceptance of who I am, and represents my ascription to life.

The carnation, in general, is a symbolic flower that has to do with the bonds of affection. Although my grandmother is gone, my love for her is endless ♥ That bond will never be broken
Not only is it symbolic but it was her favourite flower. Us women in this family aren’t a fan of plain old cliche roses … we’re beyond that. Carnations are beautiful !

My moms exact handwriting and words to me. A constant reminder that I’m good enough, someone in this universe appreciates who I am. And loves me for that.
Nothing like a mothers love…
